I went to a Catholic Congress, Thursday afternoon, Friday all day and this morning. It was really, really good. All the the publishing companies were there and I love books. Great to walk from one booth to another. Great to listen to the speakers. I went to some classes that I thought would help me with my DRE studies but today I just took two classes that were "fun" classes. I enjoy listening to speakers who are bible scholars and speakers who incorporate Catholic teaching on the Internet. I only ran into the people I knew right in front of the elevators of the hotel. There were so many classes that it was just in one class where I met someone from my own parish. Bought tons of books. I am reading Robert Barron's "The Strangest Way - walking the Christian Path." It was first published in 2002. Robert Barron is popular right now and the book had its 11th printing last year. Robert Barron is the same Robert Barron who brought out the Catholicism series. We saw another segment at my parish last night. I will be subbing on Tuesday morning as the facilitator. It helps that by Tuesday morning I have seen the segment already. My own version of all the DVDs are with the nun.
Took my weekly bath this afternoon. Actually what I am referring to is Catholic Confession. Try it. It is addictive. Nothing like hearing the priest telling you that your sins have been forgiven. Yes, Christ forgives in the forest and in my bedroom but do you HEAR anything?
All of you who read this blog in Europe you might be surprised that we still go to confession here in the US and to Mass on Sunday. Yes, the Catholic Church is much more vibrant than when I go to Masses in Europe. Many young families, many children. Very different than just seeing old people.
