If you have sensitive eyes - don't read this

This morning was one of those moments in our parish again that I wanted to just laugh out loud and never stop. I needed a good laugh. I got an e-mail to set up for Mass as the regular temple maiden was indisposed. Not a problem. I get there and I am the first in the chapel. Turn on the lights. LOVELY warm glow. Not too bright, not too dark. I go back and forth. Come back and St. Jackie had turned the lights up. I turned them back down. St. Jackie gives me this looks: Did you loose your marbels? Don't you like it bright as well? What happened to you? I plead with her with my eyes: Don't go there Jackie! Here comes the pastor who just a day or so ago said that he would never, ever touch the lights again. He turns the lights up to bright, bright, bright. I just about fall out of my chair laughing. I thought I also heard him mumbling something about not caring anymore if he went blind. (It turned out not to be such a bad thing as we prayed the Novena prayer today which are difficult to read).
Then came a wonderful moment of Schadenfreude for me as an elderly lady said to the pastor just before Mass: "Is there a Novena today?"
"Of course there is a Novena! It's Wednesday!"
Suddenly I realize I forgot to hand out the Novena prayer cards. Ooops.
I am thinking: Here we go, you wanted them to come to you directly. Get a dose of it.
At the end of Mass, an elderly couple approaches me. "Would YOU tell the pastor to use the main church for Mass during Lent?" I smile. I am thinking that with what I have just been through I would not touch this with a ten foot ladder and ten horses and you could throw in the pole as well.
Sat with the Koreans at the McDonalds for coffee. A most delightful morning from the get go.
